OUR STORY

From 6 to 60 children

In 2004, the futura Montessori Day School opened its doors.
For an amazing 6 children.
This was the result of a long journey by the founder, Renée Classen, who after university studies in Germany first took the regular path at a German primary school.
And she realized relatively quickly that this wasn’t her path. The next step led her to a school for children and adolescents who needed special support, especially in their emotional and social development.
This brought her to the work of Dr. Montessori.
A work and concept that she studied tirelessly – among other things in many continuing education courses – and taught at several institutions. Until the desire arose to build her own school that corresponded to her ideas of Montessori pedagogy. Today, this is the futura Montessori Day School.
In 2008, the school was expanded with a kindergarten and for the first time the school accepted children from age 3 – an offer that was extremely well received.
Since 2009, the school has been officially recognized by the AM(S) (Association Montessori Suisse). Today, futura consists of an institution with more than 60 children in Baar.
In 2022, the opportunity arose to expand and the school moved to new and brighter spaces.
Training and Continuing Education Location
Due to the extremely high teaching quality and excellent reputation in Montessori circles throughout Europe, futura is today a frequently used destination for Montessori teachers in training – so-called observers – from both domestic and international locations.

“Great that the Montessori method doesn’t make children afraid of mathematics. No complicated terminology like addition, multiplication – simply counting!”

“Renée was having her lunch break when I couldn’t continue with math work and she stopped her break to help me!”
